Die weltbesten Computerspieler zum zweiten Mal in Dubai – Global Challenge auf GITEX 2009 – 31.500 US-Dollar Preisgeld

Dubai, 9. Oktober 2009 – Die weltweite Liga der eSport-Champions, die Intel Extreme Masters (www.intelextrememasters.com), gastiert in der vierten Saison vom 17. bis 24. Oktober auf der Fachmesse GITEX-Consumer Electronics. Ein mit 25.000 US-Dollar dotiertes Counter-Strike Turnier sowie der erste außerhalb der USA ausgetragene und mit 6.500 US-Dollar ausgeschriebene Quake-Live Wettbewerb sind Teil der Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge Dubai.

Profispieler und Teams von drei Kontinenten treten in Dubai gegeneinander an. Darunter der letztjährige Gewinner mousesports aus Deutschland, der Intel Extreme Masters World Champion fnatic aus Schweden sowie der derzeit weltbesten Quake-Live-Spieler Shane „rapha“ Hendrixon aus den USA.

Erstmals spielen die Gamer auf dem high-end Notebook Alienware M17x von Dell, dem offiziellen Turnier-Rechner der vierten Intel Extreme Masters Saison. Das Alienware M17x steht ebenfalls zum Verkauf im Dell-Shop auf der GITEX 2009.

Den Anfang der Global Challenge macht Quake-Live vom 17. bis 19. Oktober. Anschließend folgt vom 20. bis 22. Oktober das Counter-Strike 1.6 Turnier. Zudem gibt es am 18. und 19. Oktober die Möglichkeit, sich in einem Qualifikationsturnier die Teilnahme an der Global Challenge zu erspielen.

An den zwei letzten Messetagen messen sich Profispieler sowie interessierte Messebesucher in der Quake-Live Pro/AM Challenge. Zu gewinnen gibt es Bundles aus dem Hause Roccat, dem offiziellen Peripherieausrüster der Intel Extreme Masters.

“Dubai ist einer der weltweit anerkanntesten Wirtschaftsstandorte. Wir sind stolz, die Intel Extreme Masters Saison zum zweiten Mal auf der GITEX präsentieren zu können. Wir haben uns durch den großen Erfolg der letztjährigen Global Challenge in Dubai dazu entschlossen, hier das erste Quake-Live-LAN Event außerhalb der USA auszurichten,“ sagt Michal Blicharz, Senior Product Manager beim Veranstalter Turtle Entertainment aus Köln.

Die Intel Extreme Masters ermitteln in drei Online-Wettbewerben verbunden mit mehreren Live-Events in Asien, Europa und Amerika die besten Computerspieler der jeweiligen Kontinente. Die Turnierdisziplinen sind Counter-Strike, World of Warcraft und Quake-Live. Die Sieger der kontinentalen Finalspiele qualifizieren sich für die Global Finals auf der CeBIT 2010 in Hannover.
